Senior Roadway Engineer

As a senior roadway engineer, you will assist with roadway analysis, quality control review of roadway construction plans, quantities, and submittal documents, attend project technical meetings and field reviews, coordinate, and understand all other design components (including drainage, structures, signing and pavement marking, signalization, lighting, and utility work).

Bayer United is a growing, energetic firm that is seeking a senior roadway engineer to join the Roadway Group in our Tampa, Florida office.  This role offers excellent opportunities for growth, in roadway design, client interaction, and marketing. We have various roadway design projects within FDOT Districts 1, 2, 5, and 7, Florida’s Turnpike, Hillsborough County, and others.  Projects range from major reconstruction to milling and resurfacing, and minor design projects such as sidewalks and trails.

Duties also include:

  • Managing one major project
  • Assisting with marketing pursuits
  • Establishing relationships with new clients and strengthening current relationships
  • Helping mentor next-generation team members
  • Tracking project progress, including budgets and backlog projections
  • Evaluating proposed improvements from a constructability/biddability viewpoint and recommending alternative solutions to issues

You will work with a cohesive team of professionals within and outside the roadway discipline, including sub-consultants.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Strong technical writing, computer, communication, organization, and planning skills are required
  • Experience and familiarity with Open Roads Designer (ORD) software is a plus but is not required
  • Familiarity with FDOT roadway design experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

B.S. in Civil Engineering with (18-25) years of experience
